Carlos Bocanegra dines at Japonais
U.S. national team captain Carlos Bocanegra had dinner with five teammates at Japonais on Tuesday. They ordered sushi rolls, duck and Japanese beer, among other things. The former Fire defender dined with teammates at N9NE Steakhouse the previous night.
Bocanegra will take part in a Q & A with fans at Small Bar on W. Division on Wednesday. I'll probably stop by, so make sure you say hi if you see me. And if I'm with a girl, try to pretend like I'm important.
The U.S. national team will face Poland in an exhibition on Saturday at Soldier Field. From what I hear, over 19,000 tickets have been sold for the match.

Ligue 1. Arrived in the offseason, the American defender Stade Rennais quickly found his feet.NOMINATION OF BARACK OBAMA. "Thanks to satellite, I can follow the inauguration of Barack O bama live on CNN. I'm lucky because there was only one training today (Tuesday). Swear on the Bible of Abraham Lincoln is not a common practice. This is something very important to Americans. Nothing in the world, I would not miss it. Not because it is the first black president, but because this man is asked to lead the first world power. He wants to change the face of America. The intentions are good. Now remains to bring the country out of economic crisis. This will be an important test for him. It falls in line with Bill Clinton or George Bush. They were leaders. I hope that Barack Obama will be up. "
LIFE IN BRITAIN. "I do not know the area before signing for Rennes. I do not regret because it allowed me to discover the pancake-sausage. I'm not saying this to please the Britons, but because it's the truth. I'm even able to eat two in a row. Sometimes I add the sauce. I'll make a small revelation. I'm American, well I hate hot dogs! I also discovered a city of Rennes very pleasant. I live downtown and I love to walk. People are very nice. Sometimes I go to a restaurant and each time there is someone to help me read the map. It's very touching. Otherwise, I have not yet had time to explore the coast. I'll take the time to do it in spring as soon as my schedule allows me. I also intend to visit the Memorial of Caen and Mont St. Michel. "
INTEGRATION IN THE TEAM. "I was very well received by the group. There was a great atmosphere. After two or three games started, I found my bearings in the Rennes defense. It's funny because initially it was expressed exclusively in English. It still is, but on the left side of defense. That is to say me and Petter (Hansson). I would say that the more one moves towards the right and the more you talk French. With Nicolas (Showalter) we speak in their mother tongue. Sometimes, I sometimes put Moussa (Sow) playing in my hallway. I'm French. I alternate between English and French. There is no language problem. Evidence, it has an iron defense. And the boss is Petter! "
GOALS FOR 2009. "First, make a fine season with Stade Rennais. We have proved the first part of season that could rival the top teams in the championship: Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille and Paris. I hope we manage to catch the podium at the end of the season. It would be a nice reward for the group and this would lead to participation in the Champions League. With the U.S. selection, which I am the captain, we will try to get our ticket for the 2010 World Cup. After Germany, we seek to pass the first round in South Africa. The selection of U.S. ambitions. You just be patient. "

Carlos Bocanegra Ignores Slovenia's World Cup Smack Talk
Ryan was very excited to talk to Carlos Bocanegra in a hot-tub in South Africa. Sadly, there was no video and it was Carlos in the hot-tub anyway, so not really of much interest to us! In one of the interviews that makes us wonder how on earth people get the idea Ryan is gay, he asked probing questions about the hot-tub, who was in there with him … unfortunately for Ryan’s line of questioning it was guys not girls, but Ryan wasn’t deterred and continued to talk about the guys in the hot tub, and was even thinking about the music they might be listening to, after the call ended.
They talked a little about the football, soccer, fußball, whatever you want to call it, including the match against England and butterfingers the goalie. If you didn’t see the match, or aren’t following the World Cup, here’s the best recap I’ve come across:
